Default Surprised

Crawled under the RAM Monday to see what I was up against for a Mufflex up-grade, and while under there I noticed that my drive shaft, yolk from the rear end, and all of the muffler hangers were covered with light rust! So today I went back under and put a coat of OSPHO on all of the rust, and will give it all a coat of Rustoleum this weekend. Anybody else notice this on their 2012? (Or earlier years)

somewhere on this site, there was a multi page discussion about the under carriage paint, along with pix
the factory does not seem to care any more

Yeah, I agree. Weird thing is, everything else was fine. Yolks from the tranny, transfer case, etc. all good. Hope the Ospho/paint thing works. I think it should. I've had good luck with that over the years.

Don't forget, all these parts are now made in china and from sub par Steal, usually quite a high percentage is recycled steal, they rust faster. I am undercoating my truck before the winter next Friday, and will grease everything I can find that needs it under there before Old man winter hits.

Asur- I know you are right on this. Depressing! I read about the greasing for winter, and think I will do the same.

To OP, I noticed the same thing on my new Ram. All exposed steel parts are rusted, is like the had run it over salted roads. I was surprised to see that because I had a 2002 Silverado that I traded it for my new Ram and it never had any rust.

Love paying almost 40K for something that has rust on it as you pull it off the dealership lot.. Crawled under mine as soon as I got it home and noticed the rust in the same spots.. crazy!

It's not just exclusive to the Ram models.

My 2005 Ford was the same, 2005 GTO, 2007 Xterra, 2005 Stang, wife's 2007 CRV and my 2011Tahoe come to immediate mind.

Though some were noticeably worse than others....
