Default Will a tuner help me at all?

Hey guys I have an 03 and I know tuners are few and far for this "basterd child" year. I am looking at getting a 3865 as that is what auto anything says works with my truck... My question is will the help with anything on a stock truck? I am running stock exhaust and may do a drop in filter for convenience but I don't really want to change my exhaust. So do you think it is worth the cash?

I don't know much at all about the 03s but I just bought the superchips 3865 for my 07. I bought it mainly to turn off MDS, read codes, and to see how MPGs do with the mileage tune. So you don't have to worry about the MDS part obviously. Now I also have a afe stage 2 intake on my truck and FM 40 exhaust. I wouldn't say I am freeing up the exhaust as much as lets say, the higher end intakes and magnaflow exhausts so I don't think that plays a major part in my findings with the tuner.

I put the mileage xs tune and saw a 2-4 mpg increase. Which is worth it in my book. I haven't messed with the higher octane performance tunes yet so I am not help there. I just wanted to give you my recent experience. Hope this helps some.

If you don't like it I'm sure you wouldn't have a problem selling it on craigslist or something.

The 3865 is capable of things you won't be able to with your truck. No trans tuning, but you can adjust your rpm & speed limiters. Keep in mind unless you manually shift it, it will still shift at the stock setting (5700 rpm or so) at WOT in drive. You can datalog with the 3865.

I wouldn't get one new. Not worth it. A used 3815 will be capable of doing everything that can be done to an 03. I originally had a 3714 or 3715 (can't remember which one it was). I sold it and got a 3865 because it was a good price and I eventually will convert to a 2005 PCM.

That doesn't make sense, where did you find a 3815 more $$ than a 3865?

What is involved with switching to an 05 PCM?
