Default 2003 2500 diesel headlight troubles

Hi there.
My DS headlight stays off when i release the park brake (daytime running lights are to come on when released) until I "flash" the high beams for a second. most of the time this trick works and off I go.
but the problem is getting worse now and I've fried 2 headlamp sockets on the ground terminal. I installed a seperate ground to the chassis and to the socket ground, but still have the same problem.
I've got a code 23 coming up, (headlamp switch input cct open).
so.. does this mean it's the switch? or something ahead of the switch?
the truck is a US model that came to canada in 05, so I dont know if adding the daytime running lights was just a programming thing, or additional wiring (relays etc.) were added.
any help would be greatly appreciated. suggestions on where to get parts as well. I just moved here to Vancouver from calgary.

thanks very much

kelly Coe

I don't think this is your problem but still an idea. My 06 cummins had a TIPM go out. The TIPMs are known to go out fairly easy on the 06 models idk about the 03. But I would still check. Unfortunately they are expensive to replace. My tipm caused all kinds of problems with my headlights.

I'll have a look at the TIPM (not sure what that is yet.. but I'll find it.. LOL)
is there a way to test this that you know of? or am I going to a shop with a scanner? (easiest I'm sure)

thank you RAM725

Yup. Holds all the fuses. It is your brain. And it loves to go out. I had mine checked out at the dealer. But if a scanner can't connect to the truck, then it's a tipm. Because the tipm is what communicates with the scanner
