Default Unbelievable...

So I take my truck yesterday to discount tire where i bought my tires at for a simple free rotation. They take off all of my tires except the left front and balace/check air pressure and get ready for the rotation. I notice in the bay that they see that they are having trouble removing the left front. All but one lug nut is off and they are just pounding this thing with the impact wrench. (I have never in any way removed or altered the tires or wheels after installation.) I have after market wheels and got my 35 inch mud grapplers installed there. So the service guy comes in and tells me that the lug nut is stuck on the stud and they are more than likely going to have to break it but they will send me to a reputable repair shop around town (Ive delt with them before and they do excellent work) to fix the problem and replace the stud at no cost to me. I told them to do whatever they felt they needed to do as long as they are footing the bill. So they continue on and sure enough it breaks, but on the back side of the hub and now when they try to remove the lug nut the whole stud spins inside the hub. Needless to say they are unable to remove it and tell me its still safe to drive and that it will be removed and repaired at the repair place and to bring it back so they can finish the tire rotation. They even offer me a set of new lug nuts to go with my aftermarket wheels at no charge. So i drive home seeing as how i have to wait till monday to have the stud repair done. I drive home, about 5 miles, with no problems. Me and my wife get ready to go to a football game later that night and we get in the truck and i pull outt of the driveway about 6 inches and my truck jerks to stop. It wont go any further. I try to back up and when i get back to the place in the driveway I pulled out from it jerks to a stop again. So i get out and look and my lugnut and stud is binded at an angle against the inside of the hole in my wheel the lug nut goes. I call and tell discount tire whats going on and they offer free towing along with the repair but needless to say im still pretty upset considering I now have a 40 thousand dolla driveway ornament that cant be moved untill it towed on monday. All this for a simple tire rotation. All they have to tell me is "Im sorrry about the inconvienience, Ive actually never seen this happen before". UNBELIEVEABLE !!!!......glad I got that out, I feel somewhat better now haha

Sorry to hear about your bad experience bud. Someday, these tire shops will consider taking into account, the amount of heat that builds up between lug nuts and studs before zipping them off. I still believe in hand tools over air ratchets but thats just the old school in me.

Man that sux, but what are the odds of that happening?
Crap happens! Yesterday my boss took his Ram to be washed detailed. Love bugs just left our area, and sure enough they used a pressure washer on the front of his truck. Sure enough, they blasted the paint off the trim piece above his chrome bumper in three or four small places. Now they have to have that piece repainted. I told him at least it's a seperate trim piece that won't have to be blended in.
