A tune would do the most bang/buck. I wouldn't be surprised if you could gain 30-40 + lb ft at low to mid rpms with a tune. My 4.7L gains nearly 70lb ft with a canned tune.

Well I have a superchips flashpaq. It's about $300 give or take. I normally use the 93 tune(can't tow with this FYI, too much timing advance). Lately I've been using the 87 tune as gas prices went through the roof locally for premium. There's also a tow tune, and other tunes. But when I tow I use the 87 tune on 93 octane, IMO it works better than the tow tune. Seems to pull the same but better mpg.

Most on this forum like the diablo sport predator though, another similar product. But the advantage with the superchips is you can adjust a lot with the transmission such as shift points, adjust torque management, etc. And can buy the "advanced" trans options for another ~$50 and even set your own shift schedules.

Yeah, I agree with others, something is not right with your truck. It should hold speed easily up a long hill with no more weight than you were hauling.
