Why not just get an aftermarket converter? It'll almost certainly be better, and probably the same price.

Also, I'm not sure the v6 uses the same transmission as the 4.7L...

I have a ~2,800rpm stall billet edge converter in my 4.7L. I bought it used off another member he had it in his hemi(roughly 3,000rpm stall in his truck). I love it. Didn't really make the truck faster in the 1/4 mile I don't think(according to superchips datalogging) but it is quicker off the line and in town. More fun to drive.

Well I'm not sure but I'd expect the aftermarket to be a little better quality. As for stall rpm, yeah oem will probably be "tighter". Maybe more like 2400-2600 rpm I'd guess. Not sure what teh v6's are.

I think you're the first person I've seen that didn't like their edge converter. I love mine. I gotta say I was slightly disappointed that the truck isn't really any faster overall, but it is more fun to drive around town for sure. I think when I eventually get 4.10's I might end up going back to an oem converter as the 2800 stall won't be needed anymore. Or maybe a RT converter, or even the v6 converter like you're saying if it is a good mod.

Are you sure the transmissions are the same? Does the v6 use the 545rfe? I wouldn't think so...

The 3.7 can use the 545RFE or the 42RLE transmission.

Good to know. Do you know the stock stall rpm for the oem 3.7L converter? And any opinion on if it'd be good behind the 4.7L?

Looks like we have another "insider" on the forum

You are correct. Sooner or later, some of the older members will figure out who I am.

I think I remember you, by a similar but slightly different name. It's great to have you guys as a resource on here. Sucks that some people get rude and ruin it for the rest of us. Glad you came back!

Again, you are correct. I tried using my old name but I'm locked out of it, so I just created a new one for the time being. I've since changed e-mail addresses and don't have the old one anymore, so I couldn't even attempt to restore it.

I just went through that with a ford inline six forum I hadn't logged into in 5+ years. Took me 3 months to finally get an admin to respond and help me out. They ended up resetting my account, so it was like I had no posts, no profile, etc. It would have been easier to just create a new account lol.
