Default Superchips tuner...improved mpg update

Installed the mileage xs tune for my short road trip to the mountains. 200 mile trip, avg 19mpg. Very satisfied (esp for going up and down the mountains). Normally I only get 300 miles to a tank, now I can get 400. I didn't notice much of a power loss either. I think I'm going to leave it on as opposed to the 87 octane tune. Taking another road trip to Florida (700 miles) next week, we'll see what she gets on flat highway. (BTW, MDS is disabled)

Hmm, if you really get better mpg with a tuner I might have to invest in one. I have been looking at superchips

I would highly suggest it. autoanything has the superchips next day free shipping for $288. I have never heard of anyone NOT seeing a MPG gain.

I didn't!...Well that is because once you feel the power increase a simple tuner provides...I kept mashing the skinny pedal.

Well I put on the 87 octane tune and saw a small decrease in mpg. But I installed the tune specially programmed for mileage then drove conservatively and that's where I saw the MPG gain. So yea, the performance tunes will most likely result in a drop in mpg if anything. I'm just pointing out that with the correct driving habits the mileage tune did help me.

Hey, I am not much help with those specific things. There is a guy on here TransEngineer that is an expert and is great help. I would contact him by PM (if you can) or post a separate thread that hopefully he'll see.

Try a test with the highest performance tune and I bet you have the best mpg ever. I have tried numerous tests on different vehicles, all Dodge and the absolute best performance and mpg came from the 91 or 93 tunes.

Interesting. For some reason I thought you sacrificed some MPG for power with the 91 octane tune. Is it worth it though with gas prices these days?

I used the 91 tune for a while, then the 93 tune, didn't hardly notice a difference between them in power or mpg(maybe just slightly more low end power with the 93). Then for a while used the 87 tune, which was still great, but didn't really notice much change in mpg, and the drop in power wasn't hardly noticeable. Well recently tuned it to stock about 2 weeks ago and holy crap it seems sluggish. I never even realized how much my mpg was boosted with the tunes but I am at my all time worst avg mpg(13.8mpg). I normally avg 15-18mpg depending on driving. I drive 99% city. I've never avg'd below 15mpg before this tank with the stock tune. I had it tuned right after I bought it.

I've also never tried the mpg tune.

Needless to say I'll be tuning it to at least the 87 tune later tonight lol.
