The only way you can get 4.56 gears in a 2012 1500 4x4 is to change the front diff to an 11 or earlier. The rear diff is no problem. This was just done (4x4) about a week ago by fastNugly. Apparently the front diff on the 2012's has the ring gear welded on instead of bolted on. I believe Yukon gears is in conversation with his shop and is about to enter into some R&D on this.

The performance gains with 4:56 are obvious. You will see a fuel economy gain in the city I would think however highway MPG's will suffer. If you plan to supercharge then I personally wouldn't worry to much about economy.

yes sir! what Brad said is correct for our 12's. Pretty sad
but there is a way around it. by grabbing the front diff from am 10 or 11

anyways....im with 456 gears now and could not be more happier. mind you, im running 37's and soon to be 38's and let me tell you, I CAN LIGHT UP THESE TIRES

i am so wanting to slap on 35's or even my stock 33's as I do still have them, but ill look funny driving around with a 10" lift.....LOL

I can only imagine what 456 can do with tires shorter than 33's

I went from 355 to 456 and my mpg has actually gotten better, which was a reason for doing them too

I just have a 2wd. Supercharging is far down the road. Next mods are wheels, 3000 stall , and gears. I just want to make sure to get a set up that all mashes together well and then will all come together if I do supercharge.

Captain semantics here......

They do make them for the 'rear' end, but not the 'front' end.

Sorry Fred....I'm in a mood tonight. I'll show myself out!

Brad, they dont, basically taking the gears made for the '10s and machining the carrier to fit them. But because it has been done many times, I guess you can say they are made for the 11's and 12's because Yukon is now advising installers on how to fit them in
