Question Gas guzzling idler

My 2002 ram 4.7 sitting at an idle uses about a gallon of gas every 10 minutes or less.
What would cause this? Not leaking and not idling high.
Thanks

If it's burning all this fuel, you should have a MIL on and codes for a rich exhaust and standing anywhere near the truck would burn your eyes out. In fact, it's a bit difficult to imagine how it's not flooding and killing itself.

That is part I don't get. No smell no codes no gas out exhaust pipes. Or anything.
Just a puff of smoke after a few minute idle then take off or accelerate.
But figured smoke was from oil seeing how intake is full of it.

There is no way that thing would run using that much gas at idle. How are you figuring out what it's using? The display? I would suspect THAT first.

At first I thought it was a problem with display. But had that and electrical checked.
I can't figure out what is going on with it. All I know is thistruck is the biggest pile of crap.
Between that and the oil in intake and whatever causing that.

The oil in the intake is caused by a blown plenum pan gasket, which happens to all of these engines. This can also result in increased oil consumption and spark knock but I've never known it to cause a fuel consumption issue.

Had the oil problem on my 5.2 . Was wandering if it was same issue on the 4.7
Guess I wil have electrical checked again cause that is only thing that makes sense.

There's no way it's using that much fuel, it wouldn't run.
