I did use an aftermarket IAC. They should be able to tell if it is putting out the correct voltage when they hook it up to the computer, right?

I would think so. I was referring more to the physical/mechanical operation of the valve though...

Check your battery....clean the corosion tighten the clamps. That fixed my idle issue once and for all.

Check your connection to your crankshaft and camshaft positioning sensor. I had that screw up on my 4.7 dakota once. I kept changing parts and never got a code. It got so bad when It felt like it was dieing I pulled over to the side of the road and pull the lead on the battery. Did a quick reset and keep going. Turns out the connector started comming loose. So it would be hit and miss when it would happen. Best thing I can offer for you. I wanna say the crank is on the bottle end drivers side of the engine. the camshaft is up around the firewall if I remember back end of the engine.

Default Did you find a solution?

I have a 2004 that just started doing the same thing as you describe at the beginning of the thread. I am the original owner I have not done anything to the engine at this point. The engine is totally stock and just turned 150k miles. The truck's self diagnostics reveals no codes. Did you ever resolve your problem? If so, what did you find?
