My jeep wj did the same thing, mine felt like the drive shaft was coming through the floor. My u joint on my drive shaft was history. I'd replace the rear u joints whether it needs them or not ( cheap insurance) take it down the road try that, if that doesn't work find some where that can check the balance on your driveshaft

borrow someone's steel wheels and see if it still does it. It does sound like a tire but if you replased the tires and its still going on, the next place to check would have been the rim. 20oz of weight is ridiculous and people often give the integrity of aluminum wheels too much credit. good luck.

Update - just as I suspected...bad tires. Apparently if you want tires that are true you have to spend over 200.ea. (Michelin - Pirelli). Put her up on stands and put in gear - you could plainly see both rear tires out of round. At least a quarter inch - the wheels spun true but not the tires. It appeared that the tires were seated on the rims properly too. I bought some $170 Yokohama's for the rear and it is much better but not perfect. Thanks again for the input gang... I knew I wasn't nuts.
