Default Smoother ride on 2012 3500. Possible??

I just bought the truck and was just wondering if there is a shock that will give a smoother ride than stock but still be able to take payload when needed?

Being a 3500 unless you have a load its going to be a bit stiff back there. I dont think shocks would help much because the springs won't compress much to do anything with the shocks...till loaded at least.

Choosing a tire with a taller sidewall can help a little. In example, if you test drive a new truck with 20s and another with 17s. The 17s will give a better ride becuase their is more area to flex.

Thanks for your replies. I have the 17" tires on there but I used something the guy at the GM dealership (when I was test driving). He said his trucks come with 80psi from the factory so he let some air out before I drove it. Checked the pressure on my tires and, combined with the supplemental info sticker, I was able to reduce the tire pressure which helped a bit.
