Parts used:
Metra 40-EU10 antenna adapter
Metra 95-6511 dash kit
PAC RP4-CH11 wire harness and swc interface
Pioneer AVH-P8400BH head unit
Pioneer CD-MC20 auto eq mic
Pioneer CD-IU201S ipod/ipone adapter cable
Carquest rocker switch for bypass
Having the Pioneer in for a while now, what do you think of the unit?
I'm considering doing this in my 2012 1500.

Thanks for a great post!

Nice job very tidy. Do you have any pics of the trimming you did behind the head unit? I just got a 2013 and I am leaning twards replacing the headunit rather tha using a line converter like Audiocontrols LC6i to get signal to my amps.

Sorry guys, I just seen this.

JJ, the Pioneer is great. I need to upgrade the speakers though. I think the sound quality really didnt improve over stock. However, thats not the reason I changed anyways. I needed to have ipod integration, and wanted the bluetooth capability among other things the stocker just wouldn't do. I haven't had any problems with the radio other than my ipod was freezing up once in a while. I'm blaming itunes and the ipod for that though. One thing I did notice is I get worse FM reception than before, I'm not a fan of that.

RLMX, sorry I do not have pics of the trimming. I will explain it best I can though.

I completely removed the metal crossbar inside the opening. Just took some tin snips and lopped as much as I could then twisted and pulled until it broke off. I didn't want to use a saw or cut off due to the mess. But you can and it would probably be easier with a sawzall.

There was some plastic trimming inside the opening at the top - I just used a utility knife. No trimming needed on the bezel itself, so you'll never see it.

I just installed this exact head unit last week, so far I love it. I agree the speakers do need to be replaced... That's next.

The issue I do have is that the faceplate is motorized and it doesn't open, it seems to hit something. Do you have the same issue?

I had a spot where the face would catch at first. I had to do a little more trimming and fiddling with the brackets and it fits perfect now.
