Default Beat this if you can

I almost put this is the JOKE & HUMOR section

Some of you know that i backed into an Olive tree
wrecked my tailgate & rear bumper

as Paul Harvey used to say
'here is the rest of the story'
or at least an update

I drove 7,600 plus miles on vacation

I had my RAM windshield struck by a stone, no problem, it was sand blasted anyway
I had the front of my RAM splattered by some kind of liquid, that removes paint, in a road construction area, no problem, it was in need of a repaint anyway

I returned home & on the 2nd day I backed into an olive tree in my parking spot. i didn't know what the cost might be, so i placed a claim with my insurance company, to see if it would be worth using the insurance or pay out of pocket, ( like i was doing on the other things, paying out of pocket, that is )

I was given a Claim # & an insurance adjuster in Georgia
she was very helpful
She explained that an Estimator that lived locally would stop by & talk to me & take pictures & give an estimate
I told her that the Ram would be at such & such Auto Body Shop for viewing

No one ever saw this adjuster, but he had been there, maybe looking through a closed fence
A email was sent to the auto body shop, with an a darn good estimate of what he thought that would be paid for the damage
It was in the range of $1700 & that i would pay the other $500 for the deductible

This is the kicker
the tailgate sells for $418 + tax
the bumper bar sells for quite a bit less
maybe $700 total

My deductible is $500

I decided to pay CASH out of pocket & get a much better deal

So the Estimator is called & informed of my decision
he complained that in that case, he wouldn't get paid for his work, like i give a damn, he never contacted me, so that i could be there, the body man is also upset & he has dealt with him before

Next i called the Claims Adjuster, call went to voice mail, she won't be in the office until next Monday, the 10th of September

I then call the Claims Office & try explaining what i was going to do, i was transferred to other people that were not in the office, i got their voice mail

I called twice more, same results

After that, my phone had been Blocked, they would not take my calls
now i am totally irritated

I drove to my Insurance Agent, an Iraqi gentleman, he had sold me the policy, he remembered my name before i even said Hello, he has not seen me in over a year
He was very cordial & that mellowed me out a bit

Then he got on the phone & tried to do what i had done, called & talked to a few people, but no one would let him drop the claim either & he is a Broker

He got a smile on his face & told me & the other Agent that he would take care of it, his way
By now we were all smiling, just a foolish grin actually.

He wrote up a hand written note
Had me sign sign it, his name & Agency contact info was also on it

Basically he told them the the damage was so minor, that i was dropping the Claim & taking care of it myself.

I have never heard of a company that wanted to pay a claim so bad in my life

They will likely send a check & i will tear it up & return it

By the way, i have a $1,000,000 Commercial, full coverage policy

I am already shopping for a different company & my agent speaks great English, married to the Body Shop guy, & is a real eye catcher

Wow you weren't kidding when you said that the tree one. I take it that it wasn't a rolling "bump" that looks like solid contact

i had been watching my Rear Camera
Listening to the slow Beep Beep of the rear bumper sensors, at the same time watching my 3 mirrors

I stopped backing up, figuring that i was as close as i wanted to be
I reached down to shift into drive & pull forward
My foot slipped off the Brake Pedal & hit the gas
i shook the hell out of the tree

Oh man, not the old slipped off the brake and hit the gas story?! LOL I know it's not funny but I have been trying to get my med bills paid since 2010 on an accident from 2009 where the elderly lady said she went to hit the brake and hit the gas. She then proceeded to run through a stop sign at 50 MPH an T Boned us as we passed by at 50 MPH. So you can see why I find the humor in it. 8 anchors in my shoulder and fractured elbow in the end, Insurance companies are thieves right up there with the lawyers.

Sounds like you are really having to do some fighting with the insurance companies, both on your vehicle & your own injuries

I am trying to get out of the Claim, i don't want their money, i don't want it to be on the Insurance companies records
I was doing Zero MPH, well at first
They are acting like they are representing the Olive tree, you should see the correspondence that i have received, 5 completely different letters were sent to me in 1 day.
Because of how slow their process is, i had the whole front of my Ram readied for paint, painted, rubbed out & everything put back on, before the insurance Estimator even showed up

I am telling ya GT, insurance companies are as crooked as all get out. Stop and think about it. They take our money that we pay in good faith for them to represent us in case of an accident. Then when we have one they send out an adjuster to try to beat our price down and put used parts on our vehicles. Then they make us pay a deductible for coverage we pay for. They never tell you about any fine print in your contract, cause they hope you will miss it. Then you get whacked like you did, and the adjuster is only concerned with himself getting paid, not that if you file a claim it shows up on your history and causes you grief for 5 years. Ya, their crooked.
I hope it all goes well for you man. Good luck!

Other than the insurance issue, everything is proceeding

The Auto Body shop is working with me
They pulled off the ugly tailgate, they had to cut out a hole in the tailgate to get to the left side locking mechanism

I removed the soft tonneau cover

They removed the Pin Striping from the whole Ram yesterday
They ordered the tailgate & the piece that is part of the rear bumper that is damaged,
these parts are on back order

At least i can drive it legally

The thing that you see just above the bumper, is wired tied on
It is the harness for the tailgate back up camera

Hmmm...looks almost like the whole bed is tweaked, or at least in that pic.

What kind of tool box is the one in the bed (black one, not the fuel tank) ?
