Default GMC Envoy alternator question

So my neighbor came to me a couple months ago saying his alt was possibly bad, I'm a mechanic at a Nissan dealership so I took it in tested it and it was putting out to much voltage, around 15.3, we replaced the alt, this was in August. Today he came back up to my work saying his interior and exterior lights were changing brightness and dash voltmeter jumping around. So I tested again and it was fine on the first test, but it detected engine rev during the test without pushing gas. ran test again and this time said at idle it was putting out 15.2v and normal at 13.9 under load. Anyone know what would cause this to happen, or what would cause the alt to go bad again? the tests were run using a system test on a Midtronics GR8 if that helps at all.

It's an envoy. All the people I have known with them have had electrical issues. One of them had crazy window problems where they would roll down and wouldn't work along with the lights. The other his gauge cluster would go wild and flash like a Christmas tree. In both cases way too much money was spent and problem never corrected.
