I would speak to the management of the place who did the oil change. They should be on the hook for your diagnostic and part replacement costs since they are the ones who caused the issue. Three quarts is not a slight mishap, its gross negligence imo. Most vehicles take 4-6 quarts so anything beyond that should be monitored. Twelve quarts vs 15 quarts is a big difference, plus any compentent tech would have checked the oil level and seen it way over....that is if they checked it.
You have the documentation proving the cause...They should pay for their mistake, not you.

Agreed! The truck is under warrantly still and was covered by it in full. I did receive lifetime free oil changes from the other establishment, so I was pretty happy with that. The only difference is I will be standing over the techs shoulder when he does them (the owner is a good friend).
