Default K&N Review

Installed the K&N 63 yesterday and let me tell ya, the sound that comes out of that things is borderline orgasmic. When you jump on the throttle she really growls. It actually sounds like, instead of just feeling like, I have 400 horse now. K&N's dyno numbers were 15.6hp and 17.54tq to the wheels. I am thinking I got all of it and maybe a little more. It feels and sounds like I awoke a monster. She just wants to pull and pull and pull. I went from 70 to 95 passing someone in what felt like 3 seconds. On the other side I always saw some noticeable MPG gains. I took my usualy trip home from a friends last night and got 23.5 for the whole 30 mile trip. Speed limits range from 30-55 so I feel it is a pretty decent gauge of city driving. One thing tht worked in my favor was that I only had to stop at 3 stop lights the whole way home. In my opinion, if you are in the market and don't go to AutoAnything.com and buy, or at least compare, one of these kits, I paid like 217 out the door, you are wasting your time and money.

That looks really nice, I really want the Vararam but the cost is holding me back. If I can squirrell away some play money I will have to get one of these. I have always had positive results with K&N -products.

I'm hoping the vararam goes down in price soon because I want something different then the K&N, but I do love the K&N products, never had a problem or disappointments with them lol

I dont care what anyone says about it. KN has dyno gains of 15hp and 17 tq at the wheels. Hard to argue with that.

That looks like a great setup. Where does the K&N63 draw it's air from (the stock location?) and do you have to oil the filter or is it dry? So in your opinion do you think this works better than a drop in K&N using the stock air box ? I've been considering upgrading from the drop-in for awhile now.

The stock air box on a 2012 is pretty damn good and I don't think you will see any gain other than sound by changing it out.

I would say its the stock location even though there isn't the adapter like the factory and some other aftermarket models have. This filter is oiled and suggested maintenance is at 100,000 miles. The sound that it makes never gets old. The ole butt dyno tells me power has definitely been added, obviously no idea of an exact amount. KN got really good dyno numbers as I stated above. IMO it easily out performs stock with a drop in. Gas mileage is also improved as long as you can stay out of the throttle. I would say go for it. I got mine at auto anything and the price was unbeatable.
