Here is one side of mine with 4 coats of VHT they are pretty dark and I'm looking to do LED tail lights pretty quick. It does show light decently at night but you can tell they are blacked out.

Looks really good Ghost! How is your light output, that seems really dark! I stopped at 3 coats cause I did'nt want the lights to be too dim. 3 coats seems to be the threshold before going to "the darkside", lol! I'm sure LED's will help you alot!

I did 3 coats the first time and they looked purple in the sun so after a week or two I re did them. It is really dark but you can still see the lights. I would advise to stay at 3 coats though. What I really would advise is to find someone in your area that doesn't pai t work and that has mixed black with clear and get them sprayed. I have a friend with a avalanche and his are done that way. They look like black glass but the light output is way better than mine.

Anyone know of some good Bright LED tail lights and what I would need to put them in?

www.****************.com are the ones to have from what I've read. Make sure you get them in red, and get the resistors with them so you don't have the "hyperflash" thing going on! Bulbs are direct fit, you just have to put the resistors inline on the turn signal wire. This is what I'll be doing.

They look good. I have done the vht twice now and thats it for me, they have faded back to the stock red with in 7 months, If I were to do this again I would just have them tinted with window type tint, probably the same price, alot easier install and removal

I'm trying to find a thread about LEDs for you guys, but I'm not having any luck. The guy took pics of his tails with LEDs from retro solutions and another with a different brand LED. The retro solutions looked more dim than stock. I've heard several other members complain about the lack of output from them also.

Anybody remember who's thread it was?

Did you put several coats of clear on them, or just the VHT?
