Default Looking to install and HID kit.

Im looking for an HID kit for my 2014 Ram Sport. looking for 10,000K.

Has anyone installed them and have recommendations on what kit to buy?

Also, are they a 9006 bulb?

I would go and do some reading in the Lighting section, there is a ton of info there.

Even in this forum there are several threads on it. Retro solutions is one of places that several people have used, including myself. I just installed their kit this afternoon, and it went very smoothly. They work great. I got 55W, in the 6000K color. You do realize the 10000K put out less lumens and they're fairly bluish.

I think the Sport has the premium bi-halogens. If so, the high beam is an HIR2 lamp, and the low beam is 9005.
The fogs are 9006.

Some people also have experienced flickering and then turning off. I had similar experience with them on my Dodge Journey.

Thanks for the help. I'm pretty much just trying to figure out which bulb now.

http://www.ramtrucks.com/en/owners/manuals/
Go here and find your owner's manual
then look somewhere around page 712 for the details of the lamps.

Low beam is a HIR2 and the high beam is a 9005 bulb.
Fog lights are 9006 bulbs.

For the HID's you need CANBUS ballasts for it to work, I bought a retro solutions kit back in march and am having major issues with it now to the point i ripped everything out and am using PIAA bulbs now.

There are full harness/ballast/relay/resistor kits (retro solutions)

But there are also kits that do no require a mess of wiring harness's to work. There are kits that are ballast/bulbs only. Literally plug and play. These kits come from GTR lighting, I recommened getting the plug and play from GTR... Will be much easier install and less wires and cluster to keep a nice clean and stock look under the hood.

Well it seems that people not in Canada have all had pretty good luck with the full wiring harness from companies like the retro solution, retro shop and retro fit source. People in Canada have been using canbus HID kits, or normal ballasts with an anti-flicker module plugged in between the ballast and the OEM plug. The anti-flicker module can go by many different names, capacitors, canbus harness, error canceler modules etc. Many will tell you that it's risky as stock wiring isn't designed to handle HIDs. However most people agree that one the initial startup is over (first 5-10 seconds depending on the ballast) an HID will consume less power than the standard halogen bulb. Old ballasts used to suck up to 10-15 amps when they were starting up, the more and more research I am doing is showing that new ballasts usually draw 6-8 amps when starting now. I have no idea what ballasts used to use 5-10 years ago, but the new ones are using less and less power on startup. A regular 55W halogen bulb draws around 5-6 amps when running. Also good-luck finds an HIR2 HID bulb. HIR is a technology for halogen bulbs. Pretty much take a 9006 haolgen bulb, remove the cap at the top and coat it with an infrared coating on the sides to help focus the light forward. The actual size is a 9012 bulb which is interchangable with a 9006 bulb (bases are slightly different but they both will fit into the stock projector housing).

10,000K is going probably going to put out less lumens than your halogen bulbs.
