Question 2012 RAM1500 pulling a 5th wheel?

Am looking for a RAM 1500 setup (QuadCab, 6ft 4in bed, HEMI, Locking diff., 3:92 cog, etc.).... that will handle my wife and I and pull a 5th whl with a tongue wt. of 1150lbs (probably 1600lb payload?). Trailer will be 6500-6800 lb loaded.

Anyone out there already tried this?? How did it work? Looking at towing a couple 300 mile trips a year and one 2000-3000 mile trip.

What is the read axle wt rating w/the 5-link set up?

Thanks for any input you offer....

Is this the same post from another subforum? Anyways....... with the rear coil springs they are not really setup for heavy loads. Yes you can put airbags in, and weight distribution systems....with travel trailers and that makes things all good, but with a fiver.....only airbags.....not so good. I think you should consider a 3/4 ton for a fiver. They are much more capable of handling the weight compared to the half ton.

I would not pull with a 1500 either. I know even with my 8200lb travel trailer it sagged with WDH. I used it on my 2500 and no sag. I know have 38' 5th wheel and will level out my 2500. I would not try it on a 1500 at all.

I have a bunch done with my 1500 but i wish I would have got a 2500... the 1500 can do pretty much what a 2500 can with proper upgrades but if your going to spend the money in the 1500 to make it like a 2500 why not just get a 2500...about 5k to make a 1500 like a 2500.. my two cents.
