Default Question on 2012 ram ECM swap

I have a 2012 ram. I have a few questions on how the engine management is set up:

1. Does it have separate engine and tranny computers, or does ECM control both the engine and tranny?

2. If I purchase another 2012 ECM (say out of a wrecked 2012) would it be a direct plug and play? Is there anything programmed into the ecu that would prevent an ecu swap?

Has anyone done an ecu swap on a 2011 or 2012 without issue???

Thanks!

The engine and trans are controlled by a common computer called the Powertrain Control Module. They must be programmedwith the VIN and SKIM code before they will work. I'm not 100 % sure but I don't think you can program them more than once.

So how does one go about getting a replacement PCM? Can the dealer program a new one? Does it have to come from dodge programmed?

What's the reason for the swap?
If just for tuning then programmers are literally just weeks away.

You can buy one from the dealer and no, it doesn't come programmed. That has to be done by the dealer or someone with a scan tool that has that capability.
