Default Factory navigation system?

I have a ram 1500 hemi slt crew can with the built in center console and I'm looking to upgrade to factory touch screen navigation system. Can I do this? If so anybody know if it's worth the money and what features come with it? Thanks.

I upgraded my 2012 2500 ST from the 130 RES with SAT to the 430N and it was very easy to do, and I was able to find one almost new from an auto stereo upgrade shop on ebay for $900, it has the Garmin, I really like the touch screen and this set-up, so I think it was worth it, but, everybody says there are a lot of after market options, but I went for the plug and play, took 15 minutes, and had no problems, what year is your truck? It also seems to be easier with the 2012's, it helps if you already had SAT, so the antenna is there for SAT and GPS, same antenna for 2012's, two antennas earlier years, from what I understand,

Upgrading from 130 RES to 730N RHR. FedEx delivers my unit tomorrow. Fingers crossed for a smooth install.

What about the dash? Wouldn't you need a different cover? with a larger "window"?

Thanks,

You might want to reconsider the 730N and go with the 430N. If I had the option of ordering a truck instead I bought off the lot and ended up with the peice of garbage for navigation on the 730N. Check out my thread that I started right after my first longer trip with the brand new truck and the 730N.

http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=99835

I would have ordered the truck with a 430N if I did this all over again. The 430N has Garmin based navigation and the 730N does not. The 430N works 1000 times better than the 730N.

Good luck, it may work better in in U.S. than it does for me in the area I travel in western Canada.

GUTS GLORY
upgrading from the RES to any of the other radios that were available for your year & the 2011, all are the same size
No Cutting or trimming, no changes to any part of the RAM
you just switch out the radio

2009 is basically the same

If you're going to upgrade from the RES to the RER or RHR, you will need to order a cable to directly connect the microphones in the rearview mirror to the radio. These radios have the Uconnect hands free built into them. You will also need to disconnect the existing uconnect module which is located behind the kick plate on the passenger side of the truck.

I've installed the RHR into my 2009 and have written up the install and posted it here a while ago. The only thing I had to do to mine that you won't need to is replace the sattelite roof antenna as the 2011 and newer trucks have the dual band antenna already installed.

Upgrade successful. Took 20 min to swap out the 130 with the 730N RHR. Used the Nav several times already this week as we took the boys from rink to rink. Worked well here in Southern Ontario, plotting the same routes I'd normally take to the arenas. Next long road trip is to NY. We will see how it works then. Currently filling the hard drive with music. Pleased with the online supplier I dealt with. Love the convenience of the Sirius. Nice to see what's playing on other stations and to be able to rewind live radio. Nothing like repeated Gangnam Style on a road trip. Good luck with our decision. I'm glad I did it.
