This is what the end of the USB cale looks like, it has a light on the USB connection.
It was taped deep into the main harness behind the metal brace on the left.

The USB connection and Light Switch connector look like this.
That is some very useful information right there. Thanks for taking the time to take pics and post instructions. These are the types of posts that really help out our members.

It drove me nuts trying to find that cable. I went to my dealer's parts dept
and he showed me where the cable plugged into the Peiker module. When I checked my truck I noticed there was already a cable plugged into the Peiker module. So then I followed the cable and found the USB connection wrapped in the main harness behind that metal brace on the left side of the upper glove box.

If your Peiker module has a cable plugged into that port then you are good to go just go hunting for the USB connection on the end of it. Good Hunting lol.

If you don't have the full floor console
your radio bezel is quite easy to get out & then the radio is accessible & easily removed
then you can add a USB cable if you don't have one already
get a 36" usb cable, so you can route it where it is handy, without opening the glove box

like this

Removing the radio to add a USB cable is only good for the Harman radios with built in Uconnect. On the radios with the external Uconnect module such as pictured above, you need to plug a mini - full size USB cable directly into the Uconnect module. There's not a USB connector on the back of these radios - RES, REQ, RBZ & RHB radios. (There is one on the face of the RHB & RBZ radios, those won't play an iPod / iPhone or give you the VR commmands for them).

Remove the glovebox and it will be mounted on the kick panel.

If you are like me, if you do things in a dark garage, the lighted end makes it easy to find.

Been a few months since someone posted here, but thx for the pics, jmr. This was the one thing that bugged me when I first got my truck, considering my last car had an aftermarket Pioneer with a usb port and I used it and my satellite all the time. Once I actually took out the upper box I was able to locate the usb port. Those guys really try to hide it on us. Plugged in my usb stick full of tunes...and it worked right away. I scroll through no problem and displays on my 130RES (which is next on the upgrade block). I just undid the tape so I could hang the port down to behind the lower box. I leave the stick in there, and if I need to change the content on the stick, I just pull the lower box and remove the stick. I haven`t had to do it yet.
