Default Brakes Lock up on first use.

I have an odd problem. On first use my brakes are very sensitive and slam me to a stop. This only happens going forward. When I am backing out of the driveway they're ok. After the first stop, everything is normal.

The strange part is a friend has an '01 with the V8 engine and he has the same problem.

Is this just an anomaly or a known problem with this particular model year?

Mitch

My s10 would do that first thing in morning when it was cold out . Now it did not have abs and it would lock up back brakes only. So my sugestion would be replace preportioning block. Now my ram has 2 blocks it dsnt have 4 wheel abs just rear only. So I don't know set up for 4 wheel abs so I can't tell you where to start.

Mine does the same thing and there is nothing wrong with my brake shoes, drums or hardware. It didn't take me long to remember to go lightly on the pedal. Best,CB

This may sound like I'm using halucinagens, But my 98 used to do the rear brake sensitivity thing, 1st few uses of the brakes for the day, then one day the red brake system warning light illuminated, as well as the ABS light. I hadn't the foggiest why the lights came on, until pulling the boat out of the water one day, and the lights quit coming on for a coupla days. I looked into why getting the rear axle wet would make warning lights go out, and found that there was that sensor on the top left of the rear differential, (ABS sensor). Removed and replaced it, and the lights were out, permanently, and my rear brakes don't get grabby anymore. I'm not certain, but I think the sensor cured it. One thing about that sensor, its price varies tremendously amongst suppliers, shop around.
