Default Just how good is..

The stock air induction set up in the 2012?
I hear it is pretty good and that if I added a k&n cai, it wouldnt do that much. Is this true, and if it is true, I would probably go and put a flowmax system on it instead.
Please help with any info you have!

KN 63 added 15hp and 17tq to the wheels on thier dyno. http://www.knfilters.com/dynocharts/63-1561_dyno.pdf. The stocker is good and some don't even put a full CAI on. Just the drop in. I went with the KN 63 and I love it

BlueRamMan; you are exactly correct in saying the stock airbox system in your 2012 Ram is very good if not better than most aftermarket CAI's. And until the conclusion of SEMA by mid Nov., when other tuner companies come forward besides BullyDog or Diablo deciphering the PCM/TCM encryption, a stock airbox will work perfectly with the OE programming. I still believe a K&N drop in style filter element flows air better than the paper element as physically proven by all the displays at practically every car show or local parts store. But it is what you want in your truck and believe in man.

See, thats what I was thinking. Why spend $300 or so, when the stocker is a good design? I could put that $ towards a exaust and have a better sounding, less restrictive, system.
I can get a drop in K&N for $55, but i'm wondering, how much extra power does just a filter give?
I looked at the link for the dyno chart for the cai from K&N and was impressed, but I wonder how much of that is due to just the filter..
man,SOOOOO many decisions.

Heres my other problem, if I get a tuner down the road when one comes out, will it be necessary to actually have the cai?
