This was posted over on DT forum by a rep from JBA.

Hey guys,

JBA has been building headers since 1987 and we have started doing more Long Tubes for trucks. Now that tuning is coming out we will be offering a 1 3/4" Long Tube set with and without cats. They will be stainless steel and have a merge collector like ARH and others. JBA now has the ONLY shorty header for the 4th Gen that fits 1500/2500/3500 2&4wd and we hope to do the same with the Long Tubes.

We will be charging $550-$750 RETAIL for the complete setup and you will be able to get ceramic coating for about $100-150 additional.

Look for more information on this in the next 30-45 days.

Hello, I just joined the forum today, but I have had my ram since 04. I love the truck and its my baby. As far as long tube headers (which I havent purchased yet, but will at some point) has any one tried the long tube OBX headers on the 5.7? They come in stainless, have replacement resonators, and they come with a replacement y-pipe in the kit along with gaskets. I have experience installing them in a 2002 ford lightening of a buddies. Very easy install and sounded amazing. Just wondering how they would be on a hemi?

my buddy had a set of obx's on his 05 which looked nice..just make sure if you do get a set that it specifies for 4 x 4 since you have it.

I had LTs on my corvette before I sold it, and it was a great addition. I'm going to do the same for the Ram in a few weeks. I wouldn't waste the money on the shorties, but save up for the LTs when you're financially ready. You'll be happier in the long run

Longtubes will outperform shorties at all RPM's, so they are definately worth saving up for. Only downside for the 2012 guys is that they are not going to show their full potential until you can add a tuner into the mix.

As for JBA, I will be very suprised if they offer a set of longtube headers for that cheap. That $550-$750 retail number that their rep posted on the other forum is the same price of their shorties now. I doubt they are going to sell for the same price once you factor in the extra pipe in the headers themelves, high flow cats, new mandrel bent y-pipe, better gaskets, better header bolts, added exhaust clamps, and o2 sensor extensions. All of these are required when installing longtubes unless you want the headers by themselves and plan to build your own true dual setup.

The only way we are going to see a set of longtubes for less than $750 is if someone like Pacesetter comes out with a set in mild steel. Stainless is very nice, but it is not cheap.

OK, I was thinking of installing a set of the shorties. I already have a Gibson exhaust. If I go long tubes, won't that affect the placement of the cats? Where are they relocated to?

Second note...were you able to install them in the truck? Did you have to remove anything significant (motor mounts and jack motor, remove brake booster, anything else) during your install? Any pics of the process or results? Thanks.

And I just found a set of FL OBX's on eBay for the same cost as the shorties at Summit/Jegs.

yes, lt's require that the cats be moved rearward...
