Default Diablo kills PCM?!?!?!?!?

I have a 2010 Ram 1500 4x4 with a Magnuson supercharger installed that came with a Diablo Predator tuner. My truck still only has about 7000 miles on it to this day and has already eaten the stock transmission, an aftermarket one, this same aftermarket one a second time after it was rebuilt and will now be have another aftermarket transmission installed this week. I was told by my transmission guy that he believes that my truck will burn this transmission up too if I don't first replace the PCM and said that he believes my Diablo Tuner somehow messed up my PCM. I asked my dealer about it and they said they have no way of testing the PCM but if the truck is running right it must be working because the Diablo tuner installs the engine and transmission tune into the same PCM so it can't really run right but shift bad if the PCM was bad. My transmission builder says that when Diablo first released the tuner for Dodge trucks a several guy's had to replace there PCM after the Diablo tuner killed them. He's thinking that this is my problem too and even if I uninstall then reinstall the tune it still won't work right because my PCM is somehow bad and I need a new one. Problem is my Dodge dealer has no way of testing my current PCM or verifying that a newly installed PCM has taken the Diablo tune correctly. If my Diablo tuner somehow killed my PCM what would keep it from "killing" the next PCM. I don't want to kill another trans and I'm sick of guessing games.

What makes you suspect the PCM is the problem?

Is it working normally when the new transmissions are installed?

I'm guessing you need a higher performance tranny like Sheradon to match all the extra hp you have with the supercharger.

Yes, I agree with MF2000. The 545RFE transmissions are said to be rated only up to 500hp even if you upgraded all your clutch packs and your torque converter. An aftermarket transmission to 600+rwhp should make it right.

Denny at SharaDon Performance is who I bought my SharaDon Performance stage III 545RFE from along with a 2800rpm stall Edge Racing torque converter that he recommended. I had them installed by Automatic Transmission Factory in Davie, FL and had the diablo tuner that Denny recommended I use build a tune for my transmission that I installed with my diablo tuner. It never worked right and got worse and worse until it overheated. I shipped the entire truck to Denny on a car hauler all the way from Hollywood, FL to his shop in Hugo, MN and told him however long and however much just fix it and he said he would do the tear down, diagnose and reinstall for free just charge me parts. Almost 6 months later I got it back and it wasn't right from the second I got it. I kept getting codes and it drove worse and worse until after 40 miles in the first day I took it back to the Dodge dealership. They found a dent in the transmission pan that was almost completely blocking the transmission fluid pickup and knocked out the dent and reinstalled they also flow tested the transmission cooler and flushed everything out, still wasn't right. Later determined the solinoid pack was bad and Denny shipped my a free one that the dealership installed and said it seemed good. Roughly 30 miles after getting it out of the shop it overheated again. Returned it to the University Dodge in Davie, FL again and they said it the tranny was toast. Denny built me another Stage III tranny and shipped it along with another Edge torq converter and I shipped him mine back. After he looked at mine the end of last week he called me and said all signs were pointing towards a bad PCM so Denny at SharaDon Performance is where I'm getting this idea. Only problem is the dealership doesn't think that's the problem and now I'm afraid to install the new SharaDon Performance transmission because I don't know how to guarantee it is or isn't a PCM issue.

I say talk to Diablo about sending them the PCM and the tuner. Start there. They are used to hearing about people saying their PCMs are fried and its rarely the case.

I would get a ATS tranny and put it in.
If it works fine, then return the Sharadon tranny.

Also Magnuson has a tune for there Magnuson superchargers for the 2010 rams,so i would call them and ask what they are running and using.
The fact that Denny sent you back your truck still messed up is a bunch of bullshit.
Get a ATs i think you will be beeter off.

I got Mark Leslie, the service manager at University Dodge in Davie, FL where I bought my truck, contacting Johan from Diablo about the PCM issue. I will call him tomorrow to see if he found anything out yet. I also called

B&G Chrysler Specialists, Inc.

today and left them a message to see if they could shed some light on my problem and help me figure out what's really going on. Hopefully they will call me back. As far as SharaDon performance he has continued to keep in contact with me and try and help me figure out my problem. So far he's sent me a solinoid pack, another transmission and torque converter all at no cost to me so even though the problem isn't solved he has been working with me so I'm not knocking him just expressing my frustration in how long this problem has been ongoing and desperately seeking a fix!

Ok I just spoke to David Kasper at B&G Chrysler Specialist, Inc. and after hearing my explanation of my transmission problems he did not seem convinced that my PCM was bad because I was running the same Diablo Sport Predator that supposedly fried my PCM when I killed my stock transmission and it didn't overheat like the aftermarket SharaDon Performance stage III transmissions did but rather seemed to quickly wear out likely because I was making 445rwhp or roughly 520+hp at the engine. He mentioned that higher line pressure allows less fluid to run back through the transmission cooler and could help heat things up but I told him I couldn't get an accurate measure of my line pressure because one of the modification's Denny at SharaDon does to these transmissions is put in some bypasses around the sensor so that more pressure is being built than is being read. David Kasper said that the same outcome could have been accomplished via tuning and wasn't sure how that bypass system would work. I then talked to Denny at SharaDon again and asked if a larger aftermarket transmission cooler and or transmission fluid pan was needed to combat heat and he advised that he had a customer running a 2010 Ram with a Hemi and a pro charger who was running a stock transmission cooler and pan with no overheating issues and he really believes it's the PCM. I asked him if I could test the PCM by loading the tune into the truck from my Diablo Sport Predator then pulling it back out and compairing the tune that is pulled out to the tune that was put in to see if they look the same. He said that David Amalong (might be spelling his name incorrectly) a Diablo CMR tuner ran into this problem and fixed it by upgrading the crom in the diablo tuner to the 9r12. Problem is I am already running the 9r12 but just saw that since 5-11-2012 they had a 9r13. Anyways I was told that Johan from Diablo will be looking at my truck in person after the new sharaDon stage III tranny and Edge 2800rpm stall converter go in. Fingers crossed!!!!!
