Default Dodge Ram 05 fuel pump issue

Our Ram died while driving, had it towed back to the house. It will start, but only for a few seconds.Tested the battery, definitely not the problem. And, it's not giving any error codes at at all. Dropped the fuel tank down and disconnected it. It is trickling and making a grinding noise. Does this sound like the fuel pump needs to be replaced? Just checking before I spend 199.00 for the part to replace it. Thank you.

Ive remove the bed of the truck to access the pump. ive not done any work to the truck since buying it new. The fuel filter has not been replaced. The truck has about 176,000 miles on it. The fuel pump makes a kind of grinding noise not the highpitch sound that a fuel pump makes. I disconnected the fuel line to see if it would pump fuel when the switch was turn on. It didnt come out with any pressure just kind of dribbled out. The truck will only start for a couple of seconds and there is not much if any pressure at the fuel rails

Sounds like the pump to me. It should be pressurizing the fuel rail to something like 50 psi(?) so it should be shooting out of there.

This could also be a security issue. If the WCM has a problem, it won't recognize the key and will allow the truck to start and run for about 3 seconds or so and then kill the engine.

RamTech are talking about a chip in the key. I don,t think it has one.

What does your key look like? Is is black and concave at the center or gray and convex at the center?

Black keys are the ones without SKIM(security). From everything described, it's most likely the pump. Grinding sound with only a little dribble is not normal for the fuel pump.
