Today I had Remote Keyless Entry installed on my 2010 Ram SLT. It was only because of the advice I got (via searching) from this forum that it was possible. I bought it without keyless entry. However, It did have power locks and windows. I was going to buy an aftermarket viper system and have it installed, but that would've ran me about $250. Luckily, the guy I talked to at Best Buy (Ram owner) referred me to this forum and told me to do some research on installing the factory system. I ran across some simple instructions by jsthom83
on how to do it. Today, I took the truck and the instructions to Rick Hendrick Jeep-Chrystler-Dodge in Goose Creek, SC. They told me it would be crazy to even try it for about 20 minutes and that I didn't have the necessary equipment to do it. Finally, once I talked a tech into just following jsthom83's instructions and giving it a shot, within 10 minutes, I had factory remote keyless entry for $80. Turns out, the information I got from this forum was 100% accurate. The 2009+ models already have all of the equipment needed, sans the remote key FOBIK, to make it work. I bought one of those off of ebay for $35 shipped. If anyone is skeptical about whether it can be done to install RKE on a non-RKE Ram 1500, take it from me...It works. Thanks.
