Default Newbie Check In!!!

Hello all!

First timer here and hopefully will be here for a time. I love my Dodge pickups. I just bought my third after I was hit by someone running a red light. I just purchased a 97 1500. Truck is in decent shape for being 15 years old and has just over 140k. Like I said I love my Dodges, but have always paid to have someone work on em. For the first time I tinkered with my vehicle and I'll be damned, I like it! So here is my question....One item that needs to be addressed quickly is there is what I believe to be the brake line on the drivers side in the rear that is hanging down and up against the left rear shock. Looks like the line is rubber not metal or steel. Over time I think the line has rubbed against the shock going up and down causing wear to the insulated brake line. Two issues here, or at least I think. First is there something to wrap around the partly worn insulation of the brake line that's rubbing and second what can I do to fasten the line so it doesn't rub the shock any more. When fastening the line I don't want to make it so tight that it could snap if I went over a big bump or something. If I feel confident enough I would love to do it myself, especially finding out that I may have a new found passion or hobby. Thanks for any help with the subject. I will see if I can take some pics and post em on lunch.

Welcome! Definitely post some pics of your truck. As to the brake line - you might want to "search" the forum to see if anyone else has had a similar issue. Pics would help to diagnose as well.

Got it found something in the forum for exactly what I asked for, sorry kinda new to the whole forum deal.

First is where the two soft brake line hoses are coming out of a t-link from there going into the left rear wheel :

Next is showing one hose going towards the wheel and resting up against the shock and the other hose going towards the body that links up with a solid line coming from the front of the vehicle, which this hose is also hanging down:

Another slightly different angle of the above mentioned:

And again, another angle to better perspective of how the hoses are hanging and resting:

Please if anyone has suggestions on what I could use temporarily to further insulate the hose till I can fix or replace the part, I don't feel like driving down the road and the hose get rubbed through and loose brakes! I could just tape it or use something like this as a temporary fix until I can get under and replace the hose.
