lol yea im taking the easy route, GEOLOGY haha

morepower, i get your point again but when your moving, no matter what intake, air is being forced in through wheel wells, the grille, any opening to the filter.

oh another example, the twirly ride at splash town, it starts wide and you twirl around in a circle and as it gets smaller, you go faster and bam you fall!

i found this. while this is no answer...the fact he is researching it suggests he knows that there is SOME increase in air velocity through a cone...or else he wouldn't be wasting his time on the project.

thought about this too (sorry, I'm really intrigued by this right now!)

as long as the flow is constant...a fluid's velocity is faster through a smaller area than through a larger area...assuming the fluid isn't compressible. Now air...IS compressible to a certain point. So i'm not sure how that effects the flow as it enters the smaller diameter tubing. when the air reaches the smaller diameter portions it is going to compress some... (and increase in temp, although probably negligible) IDK I WISH I KNEW FOR CERTAIN!

The air being forced into the intake would have to be greater than the amount of air the engine can suck in on its own, and the air coming in from the grille and wheel wells isnt enough to do that. especially when its not actually in that air flow. its still under the hood not out in the open exposed to that high speed air like if it were sitting in front of your bumper.

and again take your splash town ride. Fill it with with 200 people. the rate at which people can fall through the hole at the bottom is only so fast unless acted upon by something greater than gravity. Now if you were hook a HUGE vacuum to the end of that hole, Now more people would be sucked through at a greater speed. Same way with air having to be Pushed or forced by something external to go any faster than the engine can suck it in.

Either way chef, jpaul, satin, and others have dyno proven results and the fastest trucks with this intake vs others. That's enough proof

I hear what you all are saying...when i'm at the track I use an 8" reducer to 6" with a hose going directly onto my ramhammer...as the speed increases, so does the velocity, in this instance it works... someone told me that there is only so much air the tb can take and that goin bigger wouldn't make a difference, but, my question is how much air... i did a 4" diy using the stock air box and removing the air resonator.. it did feel better than stock..then I did an ebay mopar clone, the smoother tube did make it feel like I had even more power..but then, I got one of the 1st ramhammers that came out and the power difference was obviously better then the mopar clone...
