I just think that everything should be by the Popular Vote
The Electoral Vote should be done away with

No one could say a word about the Popular vote
as long as it was legal
somehow, in some areas, deceased people are voting

Well, my vote didn't count this election. I forget why the electoral college is in place. I really should go read up on that. I'd rather not blast it or say it's great before I actually do some research on it and understand it's purpose.

As for voter fraud, it's rare & never changes elections. I've seen statistics concerning Ohio where the fraud rate was 0.00004%. That's statistically irrelevant. You have more chances of seeing a UFO or a ghost than committing or seeing voter fraud occur. It's a non-issue.

The Electoral vote stands a purpose. It allows the less populated states to have more of a say. For example Montana or Alaska has less than a million people. If we did a popular vote their state wouldn't be represented at all. This would allow the big states (california, texas, florida, New york, pennsylvania, etc) to run the show.

Here is some more reading if you would like it

That is the purpose of the electoral college, as mandated by the Constitution, to allow states with very small populations to be represented in elections. However, what is not constitutionally mandated is how the electors "have" to vote. Typically, yes, they do go along with what the majority of a state's voters have to say but they are not required to and can vote any way they choose. So far as I know, there are only two states who have a "winner takes all" when it comes to electoral votes, the rest do not. What really aggravated me about Tue night is the election was called when there were still people standing in line waiting to vote or states where the polls closed and one second later, that state had already been won! Say what? and we wonder why so many people feel their vote doesn't count.

Some might say my vote was wasted but this was the first election I have been able to vote in and I believe Johnson was the right guy to vote for in this one. It's sad that people think they are forced to vote for one of two parties when there are other people running for president.

I cant agree with you more, I would have like Ron Paul to have stood a chance. But the media runs the show here.

It's more like, the....ahem....president got re-elected and now we have more states that have legalized pot. That's where I say what the??? Seems to me, the only way conservatives can win is by backing down from principles and sacrificing standards. I'm not willing to do that.

One of the reasons the electoral college was created was fear of anarchy. Every true democracy has ended up in anarchy or taken over by a dictator.

That being said, I think some changes should be made. I feel like popular vote should be taken into account as well as penalties for states that have run themselves into the ground (cough... cough... California).

We are forced to vote for one of two parties. Voting any other way is a wasted vote and is the same as voting for the incumbent most of the time. I agree, it is sad that we only have two parties in the running, but don't waste your vote.
