Question Engine mod??

Ok..i wasnt sure where to put this, plus i would like alot of input as i have been contemplating this for a while. I currently have a 2007 Dodge ram with the 4.7 L in it. I have seen alot of things on here about airram and the upgrades that you can do to the 4.7 to give it more power and some of the things sound great (2008 Intake manifold upgrade, bolt-on adapter for a superchager to be capable, TB, etc...) However, i have also thought about just doing a 5.7 HEMI swap into it. My question is, what should i do?? Should i keep the 4.7 L and add things to that or do a 5.7 L swap?? if i do the swap, it would not be until the 4.7 dies or just plain blows up. but if i were to add things on, it would start soon.

Dude I'm in a similar boat. I have the little 318 and for the longest time I have been trying to figure out what I should do for more power. I looked into so many things but I have finally decided to buy a 360, build it (either a 365 or 408. both supercharged), then swap it. The only draw back to my plan is that it will be about another year or two before all is said and done. Think of it like this, you can build that 4.7 to the max and achieve some power over the 5.7 or you can mildly build the 5.7 and achieve much more power.

Yea.. that is what i am thinking. More than likely i will just wait until the engine blows up or just quits and then put a 2009-2010 5.7 in there that way i can strap a supercharger on there. But, that is a long was away... knock on wood.

Those 4.7's are pretty hard to blow up/ die(even the 5.7's are). I would add upgrades to that one if it was me, or see if I could trade it in for a 5.7!

Yea.. i was leaning that route.. but i just dont want to pay MORE money for a new truck. i could pay 4-5k for all the upgrades to my 4.7 that i want or pay $25-30k for a new truck (with trading mine in). i like the first option just because i want a house and to be married soon, which cost money lol a lot

Don't think so man. He ran a 14.8 as his fastest IIRC. His truck is sweet though. He has a 08+ 4.7L with SC 93 tune, ATI damper/underdrive pulley, CAI, Muffler delete, and 26" slicks I believe. Single cab short bed with 3.55's.

The older 4.7L honestly is expensive to make power. You're looking at $5k just to get to hemi territory. And a swap is a major PITA. I'd look at turbo($5k better spent there than on bolt ons) or supercharger, or trading the truck on a hemi.
