Default looking to change spark plugs

im thinking of changing my spark plugs to ngk double platinum. mechanic told me i should change coil to a performance coil which costs $500. is it necessary to change the coil as well. and are the ngk double platnum good for the hemi?

any feedback would help.

thanks

If you plan on platinum, you need to upgrade the coils because platinum plugs will burn up the stock coils. You won't see a worthwhile performance gain by doing this, so stick with copper core plugs and spend the money on something more useful like exhaust, tuner or CAI.

^what he said. Stick with oem plugs and stock coils. You won't gain anything with the setup you mentioned, other than a lighter wallet.

RamTech, what year did the Ram start using platinum plugs in the hemi?

I don't believe the hemi ever used platinum plugs. Always copper. Some newer models(police) IIRC use iridium.
