Default 2004 3.7 issues

So the girlfriends truck has been doing some strange things.
When the engine is cold, put in Drive and press the gas, It stutters. Not all the time but alot.
It has done this so bad it has shut off. She says it feels like stalling out a straight drive.

So I did a basic tune up. Oil change, spark plugs and wires, Air filter....

A few weeks later it threw a CEL, I forgot the P Code but it was a fluid pressure sensor or switch in the trans. It has cleared itself, but now she says the MPG has gone way down.

What else can I do? Im a diesel guy... Fuel Filter?? but Advanced and Orielly's doesnt have them bc its an "unserviceable part"

I'm a bit confused here. The 3.7 doesn't have plug wires but it was the only V-6 available in 2004 for the Ram. By your description of the symptoms, I would do a back pressure test to check for a clogged converter. Sensors and solenoids in the trans are serviceable but you'll need to get these parts from a dealer.

Sorry its been a few months. No plug wires, sorry.
Is the fuel filter a dealer only part? And could it cause the problems? Id rather start with the simple things vs going into the trans..

The filter is built into the pump and I have yet to see one cause a problem but if you want, you can use a pressure gauge to verify pressure and fuel flow.

Sure all the coils are firing? If they weren't seated correctly its possible you aren't firing on all cylinders. Sometimes these coils just crap out. Resetting the adaptives might also help.
