Adjustable airbags give you an infinitely tunable spring medium within reasonable limits to suit your needs. I've used airbags, heavier springs, and helper springs to deal with occasional heavier loads on my trucks over the years. In cases where I didn't keep an increased load in the truck all the time, the heavier springs and helper springs were needlessly harsh for normal driving. Airbags just give you options under many conditions.
Agreed. You'd have to live with the stiffer springs when not towing. Air bags are tunable.

I have the Airlifts on my truck and they're great. I tow a 30' tt with a GVWR of 7000lbs and with about 30lbs in the bags the truck sits perfect and tows great. A WDH is in my future but as of now I'm fine without one.

I installed the Airlift airbags that fit inside the rear coil springs after towing my 6700# TT with a WDH. I'm of the opinion that the air bags improved the attitude of the truck making towing much more pleasant. I got them for $88 and spent 20 minutes installing them. I highly recommend them.

I have a question about the airlift 1000 airbags for the guys towing their TT's. Are you inflating the bags and then setting up your WD bars or the other way around?

To answer your questions, no you do not need airbags if you have a properly set up WDH. Yes, the truck will sag with a heavy load in the bed.

I completely agree! A proper WDH setup solves the problem with sag! Although air bags would be nice. My truck and trailer sits perfectly level with a WDH.photo.jpg
