Default Just put windshield washer fluid in my antifreeze overflow

What an ordeal, and man do i feel stupid.

First off we had our first good freeze this mourning so this afternoon after work i decided to run out what was left of the factory windshield washer fluid and i wanted to put some of that rainx deicer in there.

Go to walmart and buy two jugs and go out to the parking lot, buy this time it was already dark but i decided to go ahead and fill the tank any way.

So i open the hood and open the first yellow flip top i see, noticed there was a dip stick in there and pulled it out while thinking to my self wonder why they have a dipstick in the windshield washer fluid tank, anyway i continue to pour maybe a quarter of a tank of fluid in and notice it sounds pretty full. Ok ill put the dip stick in and see how much is in there.

Oh two holes over max, thought to self huh why would there be a max line on windshield washer fluid its full thats all i thought shut the cap and shut the hood.

No sooner than I shut the hood i had that gut wrenching feeling. I just f-ed up bad. Imeadiatly open the hood and sure as sh*t i just filled the wrong one.
So i pulled the over flow tube off of the radiator imaedaitly so it wouldnt get into the radiator. Went into Walmart and bought two gallons of dist tiled water and a hand kerosene transfer pump.

Siphoned everything out of the tank into a five gallon bucket i had in the bed, filled tank with 1 gallon of distilled water and siphoned that out.

By that time my buddy showed up we went up to Orilleys and bought one gallon of zerex g05 and another bucket to mix the antifreeze in.

Back at walmart mix 50/50 dist tiled in the new bucket, pour one gallon of the mix into overflow, siphoned that out into 5 gallon bucket and then poured the other gallon in till the dipstick was at max.

now im thinking about having them do a flush just in case

Cliff notes: Dont do it, and now ive got a 4 gallon mix of antifreeze/windshield washer fluid/ water that i dont know what to do with

Sorry to hear that but we've all had those "doh" moments.

You should be fine but unless you just did flush and fill it couldn't hurt.

Don't sweat it. I wouldn't do the flush unless it's just time for the truck to have one anyway. What little fluid that may have been left in the overflow isn't going to be enough to cause any harm to your cooling system.

I agree, the little bit that is still in there will not do anything.

does anyone know where you are suppose to take antifreeze back to? I read online to just let the water evaporate and dispose of the solids but that would take forever

I just water the antifreeze down ALOT. Like 10 gallons of water to 1 gallon of antifreeze and dump it in our woods.

I probably shouldn't have said this
