Default 5w or 10w

Yes, Sean makes a very good point. I have the 4.7 'mystery tapping' noise so I use the 5w assuming it will get to the top faster. But this may not even be needed. And the 10w is thicker to help fill gaps. If they made a 7.5w I would use that LOL!

Well I wasn't a believer, had the so called tap on the drivers side, was told it was a piston slap. Sounded more to me like lifters or timing chain. Any who to make a long story short, I drained out all the so called super oil, and filled this baby up with Amsoil Synthetic 5w30 along with their filter, and guess what? You can't even hear it running now! Best and cheapest thing I did to prevent a serious failure. I am now a believer. However I am researching how zinc helps in preventive wear, and should I go to a Z-ROD oil. I am gonna put amsoil in my lawn tractor, if and when the snow melts. You guys do what you want! My tick tick tick is completely gone. Have a great day!
