Default Is it bad to cut drop springs?

I have a 2004 dodge ram 1500 with drop springs in the front and a flip kit in the back but i would just like my truck to sit a little lower. My two brothers both had stock springs and their truck and they cut them and have had no problems with doing so.

Is it worse to cut drop springs rather stock springs or no?

Really need answers so please reply!

Thanks for your time!!

i did that with my setup...I had 2 " drop spindles with 2" drop coils...I trimmed an 1/8th off the drop coil off to get the stance I was looking for...

It's not worse, it's just as bad lol

Seriously, it depends, as I don't know the front coil type, but even the types of springs that you are not supposed to cut, some people do and they are ok. Depending on the type of spring though, I wouldn't on mine.

It all depends on the type of spring, and sometimes you can get away with cutting the ones you shouldn't. Some people go a little too far IMO, but even I have cut springs on my truck that aren't supposed to be cut. I'd recommend reading up on coil springs before doing it, so you can be educated on what you're doing since it is a safety concern.

There's some good info here:
