Default exterior care

ok so far i absolutly love my new ram (800 miles on her so far) had a 95 gmc sierra that still had original paint and it was in great shape i had forgotten how much white hides fine swirls scuffs ect but i was tired of white got the true blue pearl ram love the color was reading another post about all the imperfections from the dealer went over it with a fine tooth comb before i signed the papers and let me say i could not find anything anyway this is my daily driver i like my vehicles to be clean but i am not obsessive i know its a dark color and it will show more but i just wanted some pointers on keeping the swirl marks and fine scratches down to a minium as this is my first dark colored vehicle thanx all

The less you touch the truck the better. Hand was with a microfibre cloth instead of a carwash brush. Wax often. There is NO way to avoid swirl marks. My truck is 10 months old 16000kms, and I have been VERY careful and have swirl marks (deep cherry red), though proper waxes and protection products remove them somewhat. Yes white is really good at hiding imperfections, but the dark colors look REALLY good when all cleaned up. Best of luck with your RAM

Check out Zaino brothers products, I have 3 dark colored cars, Dark blue, Black Emerald pearl and my Black Ram, this wax will give you amazing results and if you do the wax right, it will protect your paint for up to 6 months. Everyone that has used these products have praised the results they get, also, you can go crazy with there products but you don't have to, and there stuff lasts a long time, you can go for 2 years with the same bottle of stuff. All you need is a clay bar, the anti swirl/wax, and the top wax, do 2 coats of each and you will be good for 6 months and your truck will look amazing. Been using there products for 12 years, will not use anything else, its so easy to use also. if you have a sore arm after you used there products you did it wrong. and no I don't get a cut from praising there products. Also you can check out Adams polish, they have something similar, I do use some of the stuff from them, there wheel dressing is amazing, and there in/out spray is a no brain er, check them out also

Check out Meguiar's Online. http://www.meguiarsonline.com/ A ton of good information. Be careful. If you are not obsessive, you may get that way.

as a detail enthusiast, i can definately recommend the following;

google two bucket wash method...the key is to ensure you dont instill swirls while washing. throw away those silly brushes from your auto parts super store and invest in some good washing medium...and good soaps. one of the best OTC product lines is duragloss and very budget conscious.

second, stay away from automatic car washes...if you must, make sure it is touchless.

unless you are using a very strong halogen light source, its likely you arent seeing any of the paint imperfections..not doubting you, but i cant imagine a dealer prepped vehicle not being swirled/scratched...

invest in a good DA polisher, and polish the paint with a good finsih polish before your truck gets too much older and invest in a permanent sealant such as opti-coat 2.0, or a semi permanent like c quartz, wolfgang deep gloss paint sealant or opti seal...all very good products in their own right, but with very different durability/appearance after curing.

Fixed it for ya.

As always, great post by Primo.

Also as posted above, Collinite 845 is awesome. Apply the 845 over your sealant.
