Default OEM splash guards

I got around to installing the rear mud flaps today.

I removed the items listed on the instruction sheet. One word of advise, don't get your truck undercoated before you do this. It gets pretty messy, atleast it was for me.

Purchased some 3m paint protective film(after reading some threads) and installed them in 3" strips, 12" long. I just trimmed the top to make it square to the body of the truck. Fairly easy. When I do the fronts I might make a template first then cut the material to fit the contour of the area.

Install was straight forward, another hand would have been a little easier lining up the bottom screw but other than that I would say pretty simple.

I didn't drill the recommended hole as I think the three screws are holding the guard firmly.

Being a little anal, I filled in the "empty" hole in the back mud guards with black plastic rubber. Looks a bit more complete that way.

On the front guard you might want to drill for the top hole. Otherwise the top of the mud guard is not real snug and dirt can collect behind it. I don't think rust forming will be a problem. I've been installing mud guards for lots of years and have never had rust problems. To be extra sure, put a dab of primer in the drilled hole and let it dry before putting in the screw.

How did your rear mud guards fit against the wheel well liner? Mine don't fit flat and mud collects behind them . The mud guards were designed to be used without the liner. Maybe this was changed on the 2013 models.
