Default Best Front Brakes

Ive been a member of this form for a while now and have learned a lot. Now to the point of my first post.....

I have gone through my first set of pads and rotor and the have been on this (not so cheap) NAPA set for about a year now. Just had it into a new Dodge dealer (Southbank Dodge Ottawa) today and got them to look at the breaks. They have been squeaking now for about 6-7 months and there is plenty of pad left on them. Dealer told me that the pads are similar to dodge ones but are quite right (chamfer not big enough and slit in the wrong place) which is causing the rotor to get hot spots and over heat. I'm not getting any brake fade so they said that if I can stand the noise then they are perfectly safe. as it is now winter here I dont have the windows open so I don't care about the noise for the winter. But, they will be changes when I put the summers back on!!!!

What brakes and rotors are the best on the market to put on???

I don't tow or drag race my truck and I want low dust (I hate cleaning rims and don't like that my chromes are gray all the time!)

I want them to last as well.

The ones I'm currently looking at are EBC Greenstuff 7000 Series for pads and EBC Ultimax rotors. I can pick them up for $339.07.

Opinions?

Not the cheapest....but a whole lot better then the EBC stuff.

BTW...your dealer is a moron. That comment about the chamfer and the location of the slit is funny....untrue, but funny.

i recommand power stop

http://www.autoanything.com/brakes/61A5870A0A0.aspx

i boutgh them from autoanything, i think i paid around 400$ for the four wheels thats for drill and slotted rotors and the pads,. they do sell the front kit is about 220.00$ including the rotors and pads

as far as quality, they brake way more powerfull, the brakein periode is very short and you actually have to be hard on them when followin the brakin procedures,.. so the brakin procedure is not complicated and when completed(takes about 20 minutes) you can drive normal or hard on them

i beleive they are warranty also,..

I am running the EBC 7000 (front) and EBC 6000 (rear) on my stock rotors, and i am very happy with the improved braking performance, less dust (about 1/2) and no noise. I think you would be happy with your selection. On a side note the EBC pads do give off a lot of dust for a few thousand miles and then drop of to about 1/2 of what the stock pads give off.

^^ I was running the same set up for over 3 years and never really had a brake dust problem, however, I was also running a set of MGP caliper covers which may have made a difference.

I'm ordering a set next week I'm building the new truck to handle whatever engine I decide to swap into it, and stopping is very important with big hp.

That's why I did it.....to slow down the future upgrades. They are well worth the money.
I also have the 4 piston calipers but they won't clear my current wheels....I'm having my ADV.1's made to clear the 4's.
