Default Strange sound from engine area. More of a

knocking sound than a rattle. Just started. 2009 Hemi with 111,000 km (68,000 miles). Noticed it when I was outside the truck and truck was idling. Not a steady knock...truck will be idling and the sound will be less noticeable and then become a little louder. When I rev the engine, the noise disappears around 2500 rpm. Haven't looked under the truck, but when I looked under the hood it almost seemed like it was coming from a fan pully but it isn't. Definitely coming from upper portion of engine and it sounds like it's an external sound...not a noise from inside the engine. Maybe an intake manifold bolt? Truck has always been gun on 5w20 synthetic and runs great so I don't think it's anything major. Appreciate any thoughts on what might cause this.

I have this from time to time. Thought it was my water pump going out but it was caused by the ac condensor. I sprayed some oil on the clutch being carful not to get any on the belt. It has not come back for about 3 months so I may have just gotten lucky. Anyway try to hear if it is from the ac condensor area.

take something like a cut off broom handle, hold it against different parts of the engine, put the other end near your ear, use your thumb & fore finger as a cushion between your ear & the stick

It will work like a mechanics stethoscope

If its the manifold bolts it will make a ticking sound when it is cold then go away when it warms up. I have had my truck in twice for the manifold bolts. I know this was an issue with the 09's. There was an RRT for this.
