Default Dealership/Warranty Trouble

Hey guys, I just need some opinions on what i should do as far as my situation is concerned. I'll try and keep it as short as possible...

I purchased my last truck (2008 Dodge Ram) from a used car dealership in which a good friend works at. After we made the deal on the truck he convinced my into buying extended warranty.. This was the deal...The deal was i paid $3000 for any thing that might go wrong with the truck with in 2 years, whether is was transmission issues to a/c.... and if I didn't put a claim in, I would get the $3000 back in the form of an in-store credit(the warranty would have ran out July of 2013).... Well I ended up trading my truck in on a 2012 at another dealership because my friend couldn't match the deal I got... So I asked him about the warranty from my 08 and about the in-store credit and he told me it is no longer valid for anyone because I traded the truck in...

What kinda sense does that make? I feel that I am in-titled to the $3000 in-store credit because I paid for it and never used it... Am I wrong? I know my buddy is mad at me for going to another dealership for a truck but i gave him the chance to match the price but he couldn't... what should I do?

you paid way too much for a two year warranty. in store credit is just that, in store credit on the truck you purchased. live and learn.

Boy that's a raw deal you got. While I sympathize with ya, I can see how the dealer can void your "in store credit for said truck" once you sold the truck to an outside party.

So it would probably be a waste of time to talk to the owner of the dealership?

I would think your in store credit should still apply. When I sold my last truck with warranty left it went to another dealer, but I just had to show a bill of sale and they cut me a check for a pro-rated amount of my warranty. I would at least try calling the owner. It can't hurt

Cause even though I traded my truck in, i still had to pay the warranty off... its not like the new dealership gave me $3000 more then what my 08 was worth,

$3000 for a warranty constitutes rape in any country! That aside, I believe your sense of entitlement is misplaced. I've never heard of any kind of "in-store credit" for an unused warranty, so I presume this is something only your friends lot is doing. BTW, a real friend wouldn't have let you pay that outrageous warranty price to begin with. Just my two cents...
