Exclamation Help with engine replacement

I purchased a 2002 with a 3.7 this past weekend for just $500. It is a very clean truck inside and out, but the previous owner overheated it pretty bad and let it sit for a couple of years with water in the crankcase. I am planning on replacing the motor with a used one out of another vehicle, just trying to find out one thing. What year model trucks can I get my replacement from? I have a line on one from an 05 and one from an 08 already. I just want to know if there is anything I should know about that would prevent me from using a donor from a different year model. I am more than capable of doing the swap and switching over anything that needs to be switched over. Just want to make sure that the long block will work from a different year model. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the 2008 Ram with the 3.7l in it I would guess that things are the same in the engine bay when it comes to space. At worst I would guess the engine mounts could be different. I am also putting my money on things being switchable because of the Generation of truck. Both models being a GenIII makes me feel that it should not be a difficult swap. Lou.

If the 3.7's are anything like their big brother the 4.7, 2002 had a different tooth count tone wheel. You may need to get a 2002 specific engine, otherwise it'll give the PCM fits and may not even run.
