thanks ramvan! I seem to always second guess myself. I planned on doing a temporary fix by laying a bead of gasket sealer until I have time to pull it apart. Am I just looking for further trouble if I do this temporary fix?

Well I am not sure if the seal will do anything, sometimes it works, sometimes not. But I can tell you that a timing chain gasket kit only cost like 11 dollars from autozone last time I checked. It's not an expensive repair, just takes a little time.
