I have been trying to find a way to turn DRLs on through the EVIC but nothing. Went to the dealer today and was told the option was only available for Canada. Any idea why or how I can get DRL on my Laramie? We checked all computers onboard with the Scan tool and none show an option for DRL.

Your dealer should be able to turn them on with their computer. When I purchased my sport, they weren't working, after a week of not realizing that, I finally saw the front while driving behind a semi with chromed doors and didn't see the drl's. So off to the dealer, and that's all they did to activiate the drl's. Hope this helps..

cheers

Do you know what module they went into? I was with the tech when he checked and could not find it in any of the modules....

Geez, they said that they were going to change that for us down in the USA

If they don't have it & tell you it can't be done

Set your headlights on AUTO & put something over the little dome that is up on the dash board, its right against the windshield, just right of center

I have a piece of dash carpeting covering mine

look at the right side of the center dash speaker, it has a small domed shape

The only possible reason I can see for not making it available on US models is to discourage Canadians from buying US models and thereby permit Chrysler Canada to charge extra for a unique feature.

a good suggestion, but only a band-aid. properly functioning DRL's shouldn't dim the radio etc. which will happen if you just toss something over the sensor. i'm curious if DRL's could be activated for my 2011? one of the things i miss about my 2008 GMC Sierra.

Not to sure but I now he was working on the driver side so I can only assume it was under the dash where the obdII would be. I also remember that the service advisor said that I probably had an american model. Could be true and don't really care as they are built in the same factory but maybe have different computers installed or something.

Also get this, the owners manual says that the drl's are 50% off the low beam headlights, they made my drl's run off the turn signals which are always on now. I haven't seen any 13 rams driving around my area with this yet. Go figure. Anyways hope you can get this situation fixed my friend

Just thought I would toss my tid bit here. I had a 2012 Ram 2500 for a while and I wanted the DRL turned on because of my excessive highway travel/long drives.

Anyways all that I had to do was go to the dealer. A tech walked out and plugged the star scan tool or something to that effect into my OBDII port. I followed him to the back where it pulled up all the options he could change on my truck.

We had two options to turn on the DRL. One was to change the country code to Canada since they HAVE to have their's on all the time.
The second was to simply scroll down to DRL and hit enable.

I watched him do this and when it said complete we walked over to the truck, unplugged the tool, and fired it up. Threw it into drive and bam I had daytime running lights using my low's at 50% power.

I don't know if it is because I had a 2500 or what but that is how I got mine working.

Porter, i have been running with my ambiant light sensor covered since September 2009
there has been no bad effects
everything works as it should

where i live, we have several roads where we MUST have headlights or DRLs on 24/7
$230 plus ticket fee & they send the report to the insurance companies, it shows up as running a RED light, instant raise in rates
