Default Interceptor by Hypertech

So Bully Dog has tunes out it'd seem, DS seems close, and now Hypertech has their own solution. As the name implies it looks to catch data to and from the PCM and modify it, on the fly.

Interceptor

This might be interesting, and seems like it'd be hard to trace, if you were worried about warranty issues!

I have no experience with any of the aforementioned companies, but will eventually invest in one, so I figured I'd just let the forumz know about this one!

Appears our friends at AutoAnything have them ready to ship: Click here!

Well if it can't adjust torque management. Rev limiter, speed limiter, what octane to use. And such why would I pay 350 bucks for it. The only thing I can think if that is simer to this is the ez efi system they use on old motors you want to efi. It adjust to what it sees when the motor is running and adjust its air and fuel measurements to the best it can get with the mods you have. They used one on a motor on spike tv and every time they dyno the motor with ex efi hooked to it it got better numbers until it peaked to a certain point because it could only do so much with the supporting mods. It did get a whole lot better performance than they could of with the carb setup they had in before. If I remember right it got like 40 extra ponies then the carb setup they had. So if the have proven dyno sheets then maybe I might think about it. But not haveing the choice of turning mds and tq mana off then it will be hard to want to get it

I found this article about it.. And hypertech is claiming 5-10% increase in power depending on application

Default e-mailed Hypertech

I e-mailed Hypertech this morning to see if they will answer some questions for us. I don't believe this will do little for the transmission because look at the install I don't know how it would haha. Also HemiLonestar looks to be pretty spot on, it looks like it simply just feeds modified data to the ECM. So kind of like the mods to "lower" intake temperatures (readings) to get more fuel added etc. Just on a more involved level! It also looks to have a component similar to the throttle booster someone else posted!

I asked them also if they plan on having a way to adjust it, or a tuner in the near future!

We'll see if they reply!

Thanks for your interest in the Interceptor.

The Interceptor is not a programmer. The Bullydog and Diablosport devices are programmers, similar to our Max Energy Power Programmer. The Interceptor is a product that has been in development for a while. As time went on, and the ability to program the ECU’s on the 2011-up Chrysler vehicles seemed to be elusive, we decided to go in a different direction to fulfill the demand for a tuning product for these vehicles. The Interceptor is a smart technology design, that was developed as a way to deliver performance tuning “outside” of the ECU.

The Interceptor has 2 modules, one that mounts under the hood, and plugs into the factory connectors, and one that connects to the accelerator pedal, inside the vehicle. The Interceptor works by constantly monitoring the vehicle’s functions, and then automatically recalculates the factory’s computer performance calibrations with the same Hypertech Power Tuning that comes in the Max Energy Power Programmers.

The official dyno charts for the Interceptors will be released soon. The power gains for the 2011 Ram 5.7L are about the same as the tunes in the Max Energy programmers for the 2010 Ram 5.7L, which where 8 HP/ 8 Ft Lbs on regular fuel, and 15 HP/20 Ft Lbs running premium. In addition to the increase in power, the throttle response is tuned to remove the throttle delay, and improve acceleration. Fuel mileage gains with the Interceptor will be similar to what you get with the Max Energy programmers, which is in the 1 to 2 MPG range.

The Interceptor does not have the ability to adjust MDS, traction control, or other settings. It is warranty friendly, as the tuning has been thoroughly tested, and will not harm the engine or drive train. With it being a plug-in device that does not access the ECU, it can be easily removed for dealer service or warranty repair.

We will continue to work on a programmer option for the 2011-up vehicles, but there is no time frame when they might be available.

Chris
So that hopefully will give a fairly decent explanation of the device, they've aimed to give you the same power that you would get from the Max Energy line of programmers.

I see some actual real world numbers on this I might look into this more. Being I have been pissed at Dodge since I got my Express over the no tuner working deal. It has held me back from so much I want to do to my truck that I just started putting that money into my Crossbones instead, and They have Tuners for Harleys. :P
