Newbie with some issues with 2001 ram 1500 5.9L
Hello, I am still kind of new to the site. Thanks for any and all input!
So my prob is that my 2001 dodge ram 1500 5.9L Reg cab short box pickup is acting up on me. First it has 128Kmi on it. When I start my pickup it runs just fine Intel about the time it warms up I am noticing and then it will lose power in on highway or if in town it will idle rough, like it wants to die. I can pull over and give it some gas and it will run fine. It will smell weird when this happens not like burnt oil but something like that. When it is running rough it will backfire if I just floor it or try to work it out by stopping and giving it some gas.
I got a new fuel pump and filter about 2 yrs ago. Also did plugs and wires about 3-4 years ago." I got the best they had". I have now filled up with injector cleaner which is almost gone. I also have a throttle body spacer.
People that I have talked to about it on the street say it sounds like a sensor of some sort. But I have no idea what or where it would be. My buddy has computer that he plugs in two the truck to see what code it is throwing but it wont work in my pickup. When he plugs it no power like a wire is cut or something. So that does not help at all!

I'd get and use a fuel pressure gauge, and leave it on there and tape it to the windshield or stick it under a wiper 'til it becomes a bad actor, just to verify that it isn't the problem. steady , no variable pressure is key. 35 - 40, or a little better.
