Default Another Oil Change Question

So I just changed my oil for the first time at 3000km. I put in Valvoline Synpower Oil and used a Napa Gold Filter. I am assuming this is not top quality oil as it was not super expensive so how many km should I wait before I change my oil again. I drive to work on days that I dont ride my bike, so lots right now in the winter, and that is 8km each way and then I drive longer distance on weekends. I do drive through the mountains a bit and along dirt roads. Whats all your best estimates for the next change?

Valvoline Synpower is 100% synthetic, very good oil. NAPA Gold is one of the best rated oil filters.
Even though your only driving about 5 miles one way, which doesn't allow oil to reach full operating temp, you say you drive more on weekends which does get oil hotter and burn off condensation, a good thing. Seven quart system helps out a bunch.
My opinion, 5000 miles and change it.

Default Current synthetic oils are ALL just fine

Any current synthetic oil on the market will provide you with several hundred thousand miles of engine life, under the proviso that you change it at least 10K miles and use a good filter. Dont' let the engine overheat of course.
NAPA oil filters are rebranded. You can leave synthetic oils in for 7-8K no problem.
Don't fret over modern synthetic oils. Anything on the shelf at Kragen, Autozonen or Walmart etc - is just fine.

Is the Gold series the one manufactured by Wixx for NAPA?

Yes they are. I worked for NAPA for 10 years and never had a bad filter problem. When I left the Silver was made by DANA Corp, also a good 2000/2500 mile filter because of less filter media. I think they are called ProSelect now. I don't know who makes them.

So Wixx manufacturers the Gold series of oil filters for NAPA to rebadge n' sell. Cool. Thanks.

What about the rest of the NAPA oil filters down from the gold.... is it true the rest of the [lower] series of NAPA filters are manufactured by Puralator?
